The COSPs meet as required to progress a range of projects, mainly in the areas of standards development and education. The maintenance of practice standards is integral to the achievement of the SHPA vision. COSPs also assist SHPA to comment on government policies and to make submissions. A recent example was the work of the Investigational Drugs COSP and their submission on behalf of SHPA to the TGA/NHMRC Review of the Australian Arrangements for Clinical Trials and Access to Unapproved Therapeutic Goods. The Specialty Practice Reference Group oversees the activites of the COSPs and development and maintenance of SHPA practice standards and comprises Councillor Tony Hall (Chair), Supporting Councillor Ian Coombes, chairs of COSPs and SHPA staff Yvonne Allinson, Nicki Burridge and Anna Borg.
