Join a Practice Group

Practice Groups

A community for SHPA members with existing or developing expertise in a specialty who want to grow and share their expertise and lead specialty pharmacy practice.

Why join:

  • Ability to join up to 5 streams
  • Contribute to publications, CPD, policy and submissions, Expert Practice Framework and more
  • Develop and oversee Standards of Practice
  • Networking to support the development of your expertise and guide early-career pharmacists
  • Resources including online discussion forums
  • Eligibility to nominate for election to Leadership Committees

Complete Section A of this application form to join Practice Groups in SHPA's Specialty Practice Streams.

You need to demonstrate your expertise in the specialty by uploading your CV. Please include details of how long you have worked in the specialty or a closely related area, now or in the past, additional professional development you have done in this field, and any related research, teaching, publications or presentations.

This information ensures the Practice Group provides a network of experienced pharmacists to inform development of the specialty, and grow awareness of people working the same field as colleagues and resources. SHPA will only check relevant experience for inaugural Practice Group members to assist the process – in future this acceptance process will be coordinated by the Leadership Committee.

Practice Group members commit to stream activities and regular engagement through the discussion forum therefore we recommend joining no more than FIVE practice groups.

  • be a financial member of SHPA and have been so for at least 12 months
  • be in the eligible membership category - Student and Intern members ARE NOT eligible to join Practice Groups
  • be a member of the Interest Group(s) corresponding to the Practice Group(s) you are applying for.

Leadership Committee

A dynamic group of members with a deeper involvement and expertise in their specialty who drive activities for the benefit of all members.

Why join:

  • Direct policy and education
  • Advocate for change at a senior level
  • Contribute to Therapeutic Guidelines, publications and other key resources
  • Receive recognition as a leader in your specialty
  • Network with other experts and key stakeholders
  • Resources including online discussion forums
  • Support from Practice Groups and SHPA Secretariat

Only Practice Group members can nominate to be elected to Leadership Committees.

Nominations for inaugural Leadership Committees have closed.

Leadership Committee elections were held in October 2017 with the Chair due to be elected at first committee meetings.

Each Leadership Committee will be holding elections in 2019.
