The SHPA ACT Branch Committee welcome you to this half day symposium on acute endocrine disorders.

This symposium will give pharmacists, at all levels of experience, opportunity for facilitated discussion around the management of a variety of critically unwell, complex, endocrine patients.

Learning Objectives

  1. Apply the principles of the endocrine system and hormones to the management of endogenous and exogenous hormones in practice.
  2. Identify very high-risk endocrine patients and medications that require clinical pharmacy intervention.
  3. Describe pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions for acute endocrine disorders.
  4. Recognise endocrine cases that require escalation to other team members.

The program will be offered in person and virtually to enable participation from other states and territories. 

The program is being overseen by Endocrinologist, Dr Carolyn Peterson. Any questions or discussion points after the symposium will be provided to Dr Peterson and then fed back to the audience.

Participants are strongly encouraged to watch the recording of the ‘Endocrinology Refresher’ webinar on Tuesday 19 October prior to attending the Symposium.
