Olivia Rofe welcomed to SHPA Board
The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has welcomed Olivia Rofe, Program Director Pharmacy at Eastern Health, to its Board of Directors.
Mrs Rofe fills the casual vacancy left following the decision by Professor Michael Dooley to step down from the SHPA Presidency at Medicines Management 2018 last November and subsequently resign from the Board.
Professor Dooley says Mrs Rofe will be a huge boost to SHPA.
‘Mrs Rofe is an innovative thinker and leader with a breath of experience in acute healthcare.
‘Her passion for improving pharmacy services provided to patients will be a wonderful complement to the SHPA Board.’
Mrs Rofe says she is delighted by her appointment.
‘It is an exciting time for our profession, with the continuing work of SHPA supporting workforce development, facilitating national research collaboration and advocating for stable medication supply in an unprecedented, unstable environment.
‘My main areas of interest focus on people. I am passionate about putting patients, clients and consumers first, and understanding experiences “in their shoes”, working with our service users to optimise their experience and health outcomes.
‘Our workforce is our service, and I believe investing in our workforce and supporting training and development ultimately provides the best patient experience.’
Mrs Rofe says the ongoing digitisation of Australian healthcare is another area of focus.
‘I am interested in how we use the data we have at our fingertips to understand our patients are getting the best health outcomes possible.
‘I am also interested in managing a diverse intergenerational workforce and how SHPA can meet the needs of its members drawing on a broad range of ages and experiences.’
SHPA Chief Executive Kristin Michaels says Mrs Rofe’s extensive experience is a welcome addition as the organisation enters a new era.
‘With the recent release of the SHPA Strategic Plan 2019-23, SHPA is committed to the vision of advancing pharmacy, advancing patient care.
‘On behalf of the SHPA team, including SHPA Branches Committees and volunteers, I look forward to Mrs Rofe’s expertise and guidance as we elevate the cause of hospital pharmacy, and the broader sector, for the benefit of all Australians.'
