SHPA President Peter Fowler acknowledged outgoing President George Tambassis for his years of leadership.
‘On behalf of our Board of Directors I thank Mr Tambassis for his commitment to Australia’s over 5,700 community pharmacies over the last 25 years in various leadership positions at the Guild.
In welcoming Professor Twomey, Mr Fowler says the SHPA will continue to work alongside the Guild of Australia to strengthen Australian pharmacy, an essential pillar of the Australian health system.
‘Of primarily priority this year, SHPA and the Guild will work together, with our healthcare partners, to ensure the safe and effective administration of COVID-19 vaccinations across the country.
‘On behalf of our members we acknowledge Professor Twomey’s leadership and contributions as Queensland Branch President and Senior National Vice President of the Guild since 2017.
‘On a personal note with Professor Twomey based in regional Queensland, it is valuable for the entire profession to see geographically diverse leadership as equitable health outcomes and healthcare access are priorities shared by all pharmacy organisations.’
