SHPA welcomes Suzanne Greenwood to Guild leadership
On behalf of its Board of Directors and members, the Society of Hospitals Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) Chief Executive Kristin Michaels has welcomed the appointment of Suzanne Greenwood as Executive Director of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia (the Guild).
Ms Michaels says SHPA looks forward to working alongside the Guild to strengthen Australian pharmacy, an essential pillar of the Australian health system.
‘Through various touchpoints, SHPA will progress our ongoing partnership with the Guild to address mutual issues, such as hospital-initiated opioid dependency in the community, and advance shared interests that benefit patient care.’
Prior to Ms Greenwood’s appointment, which will commence later this year, she was Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Health Australia, National CEO of the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia, General Counsel at the St Vincent de Paul Society of Queensland and Corporate Counsel of St Vincent’s Health Australia in Queensland.
Ms Michaels says while the two organisations represent different professional groups, SHPA and the Guild share an essential commonality.
‘Although pharmacy care is delivered to Australians in several settings along their healthcare journey, hospital and community pharmacists share the same patients.
‘Research continues to highlight that transitions of care between these settings require urgent attention, and SHPA is committed to working with all of our pharmacy partners to protect patient safety and uphold quality use of medicines as people are admitted to acute care, discharged from hospital to home or residential care, or during any other significant disruption to their healthcare routine.’
