New national committee
Boasting a national scientific committee for the first time, Medicines Management 2019 promises to build on the momentum and excellence of past conferences with representation from all seven SHPA Branches.
Led by Chair Natalie Tasker (NSW) and Deputy Chair Duncan McKenzie (Tas), the committee includes prominent pharmacists and technicians Mel Anderson (NSW), Sheridan Briggs (ACT), Margie Butnoris (Qld), Sarah Charles (Vic), Yvette Haselden (Qld), Adam Hort (WA), Kate Luttrell (Tas), Cathy Martin (NSW), Rachael Raleigh (Qld), Josephine To (SA/NT), Daniel Trajkov (Qld), Alan Tuxford (Vic), and Jason Waddell (Qld).
The success of future conferences will be aided by the introduction of two-year terms for committee members, which has also meant an end to the previous rotating model of one host city / host Branch per year.
No Schoolies, no worries!
While scheduled for mid-November, SHPA has confirmed with Queensland Government representatives there will be no impact of school leavers’ events on travel, accommodation and social activities on MM2019.
'Local Schoolies arrive on Saturday 16 November and the vast majority will drive in, so there will be no impact on flights Thursday and Friday of that week' says Avril from the QLD Government Safer Schoolies Initiative. 'We anticipate 80-90% of these Schoolies will stay close to the action in Surfers Paradise, with little to no impact on the price or availability of accommodation down in Broadbeach, where the SHPA Conference is being held.'
