Safer, flexible SHPA CPD options coming this Spring
The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) has embraced Australia’s ‘new normal’ of flexible learning amid ongoing coronavirus restrictions, re-launching its 2020 CPD Calendar to ensure safe, equitable access to innovative learning over the remainder of the year.
From September 2020, all national SHPA CPD seminars will feature virtual delivery, supported by face-to-face and self-paced online learning to ensure the needs of pharmacists and technicians nationwide are met through interactive and engaging experiences.
SHPA Chief Executive Kristin Michaels says new-look CPD calendar and event webpages feature handy icons to help pharmacists and technicians understand their attendance options.
‘In some cases, face-to-face events will be possible, supported by optimal hand hygiene and social distancing practices, whereas virtual events and events containing self-paced online components are now available to support safe and engaging education. Of course, the roll-out of our top-quality webinars will continue as normal.
‘All seminars will be delivered by the same leaders in the field that delegates expect from SHPA CPD, with active discussion to maximise learning.
Ms Michaels says SHPA has time on its side regarding the delivery of the blockbuster Medicines Management 2020 (MM2020), the 46th SHPA National Conference, currently scheduled to be held in Adelaide, 19-21 November.
‘We are closely following changes in each Australian state and territory that may allow larger events to be held safely under COVID-19 mitigation rules and regulations.
‘SHPA is working on a range of contingencies – including preparing to deliver MM2020 conference in-person – with a decision to proceed and a final event format to be determined before the opening of registrations.’
