Mildura Base Public Hospital is a 172-bed (level 1) tertiary teaching hospital providing public hospital services to the community of Mildura and surrounding Sunraysia region. The hospital has teaching and research links with Monash University and La Trobe University.

The pharmacy department is staffed by nine pharmacists, one intern and three technicians. Our hours of service are 8:30am to 5pm weekdays, 9am-1pm Saturday, and 9.30am-12.30pm Sunday and public holidays. An on-call service is also provided. Pharmacy services are provided to all areas of the hospital, including inpatient and outpatient services. Clinical pharmacy services are provided to the general medical and surgical wards, Paediatrics, maternity, ICU, emergency and short stay unit, aged care and rehabilitation, palliative care, mental health ward, as well as the chemotherapy and dialysis day unit.


Intern program information

Mildura Base Public Hospital is an accredited site for interns wishing to undertake the Intern Foundation Program in conjunction with the Intern Training Program through Monash University. Intern pharmacists are exposed to all aspects of pharmacy practice during their intern program at Mildura Base Public Hospital and the development of clinical skills is supported by multiple pharmacists who are accredited Monash University Pharmacy Clinical Educators. The intern program is tailored to suit individual intern’s learning and professional strengths and weaknesses to support the intern to achieve registration and skills required as a pharmacist.

Intern Duties

The intern is involved in all aspects of the pharmacy service, from dispensary, all clinical areas and non-clinical services. They are also involved in the weekend pharmacy service on a rotating roster (approx. every fifth weekend).
