Intern program information

1 DHHS funded and 1 Hospital funded.

GV Health Pharmacy Interns rotate through dispensary, manufacturing and clinical areas including medical, surgical, rehabilitation/GEM, respiratory and ED (sample roster available on website). Formative assessments and feedback will be provided throughout the year, so that better learning outcomes can be achieved by the intern.

At GV Health, we value education for pharmacy interns – with interns being supported by a team of 16 clinical pharmacists and 6 technicians. Interns are supported by the preceptor, Pharmacy Clinical Educator and allocated an individual mentor to provide additional guidance. GV Health is linked with other hospitals in NE Victoria to provide additional support and connection throughout the year, including practise mock exams. GV Health also have Allied Health Educator run programs available to develop skills such as interprofessional collaboration, communication and critical thinking. A structured tutorial timetable is in place which covers clinical, legal/ethical and OTC topics. In addition, clinical education meetings are held weekly within the pharmacy department.
